Tampa, Florida — March 2026 — The Rescuing History Authors Tour, a unique traveling literary experience described as “A Rolling Symposium,” has successfully concluded its multi-state journey through the Southeast, bringing together historians, storytellers, and authors dedicated to preserving and sharing African American history.
The tour traveled February 28 through March 4 with stops in Royal, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Montgomery, Alabama; Tallahassee, Florida; and Tampa, Florida, culminating at Ersula’s History Shop in Tampa. Each stop featured engaging author presentations, historical discussions, book signings, and community conversations centered on preserving untold stories and celebrating cultural heritage.
Organized by Rescuing History, Inc., the tour was designed to connect readers, historians, and communities through powerful narratives that explore family history, community heritage, personal transformation, and historical truth.
“This tour was more than a series of book signings,” said Ersula K. Odom, founder of Rescuing History, Inc., author, publisher, and owner of Ersula’s History Shop. “It was a traveling classroom — a rolling symposium — where authors shared stories that preserve legacy, inspire dialogue, and deepen understanding of our collective history.”
Participating authors represented a diverse range of genres including memoir, historical nonfiction, poetry, fiction, and cultural commentary. Their works explore themes of resilience, family legacy, social justice, faith, and community history.
Because of the strong audience response during the tour and growing public interest, independent bookstores, museum shops, and university bookstores are encouraged to prepare for reader demand by stocking titles from the participating authors.
Retailers are encouraged to order a minimum of three copies per author title to meet anticipated requests generated by the tour and its media exposure.
Many of the authors publish through Sula Too Publishing, a full-service publishing company founded by Ersula K. Odom that specializes in memoirs, history, and culturally significant narratives.
Books from the tour are expected to appeal to readers interested in:
- African American history and heritage
- Personal memoirs and inspirational stories
- Community and cultural storytelling
- Educational and historical programming
The Rescuing History Authors Tour reflects a growing movement to document and preserve stories that might otherwise be lost to time. Through literature, performance, and historical interpretation, the tour created a platform where history is not only remembered but actively shared and preserved.
